भंडारित खाद्यान्‍नों में कीट प्रकोप, महत्‍व

अवैज्ञानिक भंडारण, कीटों, कृंतको और सूक्ष्‍म जीवों आदि के कारण कुल उत्पादित  खाद्यान्‍न का लगभग 10 प्रतिशत फसल कटाई उपरांत नष्ट हो जाती है। भारत में वार्षिक भंडारण हानि 14 मिलीयन टन होने का अनुमान है, जिसकी कीमत 7 हजार करोड़ रूपए है, जिसमें कीटों से हानि ही लगभग 1300 करोड़ रूपए (2015) है। इन फसल कटाई उपरांत की हानियों में  भंडारण-कीट से हानि 2.0 से 4.2 प्रतिशत है। भंडारण कीट द्वारा की गई प्रमुख आर्थिक हानि केवल उपयोग द्वारा ही नहीं है बल्‍कि संदूषण की मात्रा द्वारा भी है। कीटों की लगभग 600 प्रजातियां भंडारित अनाज उत्‍पादों से जुड़ी हुई हैं। भंडारित उत्‍पादों के कीटों की लगभग 100 प्रजातियां आर्थिक हानि पहुंचाती हैं।

 

कीट प्रकोप से हानियाः

  • भार की हानि
  • अंकुरण की हानि
  • वाणिज्‍यिक कीमत की हानि
  • उपभोक्‍ता द्वारा नापसन्दगी
  • पौष्टिक तत्व की हानि
  • संदूषण उत्पन्न गर्मी की वृद्धि करता है और भंडारण क्षमता की हानि करता है।
